The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the people of Delta State as the state marks its 34th anniversary, while calling on the governor to assent to the recently passed Community Security Bill.
Delta State, created on August 27, 1991, by former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has, over the years, evolved into a hub of cultural diversity and progressive governance.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Ehvwubare Oghenekparobo, FIMC, ANIPR, the Forum commended Governor Oborevwori for what it described as his pragmatic leadership and the visible impact of his M.O.R.E Agenda on governance, particularly in road infrastructure and project delivery across the state.
“Governor Oborevwori has taken deliberate steps to entrench good governance and accelerate development,” the Forum stated.
However, DOPF urged the governor to use the occasion of the anniversary to sign the Community Security Bill into law, stressing that the legislation would provide a strong institutional framework to complement existing measures against insecurity in communities and business environments across the state.
The Forum noted that while the state has recorded significant achievements in the last three decades, challenges persist in areas of industrial expansion and security, which require renewed attention for Delta to fully realize its socio-economic potential.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we commend the contributions of past leaders and all arms of government to the progress of Delta State since creation,” the statement added.
“We equally salute the resilience and determination of Deltans whose collective drive continues to shape the state’s forward march.”
DOPF reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government initiatives through constructive reportage, balanced analysis, and developmental journalism aimed at building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Delta State.
