NNU Women Assembly Launches N50m Health Funds To Establish Trado-Medical Firm

A socio-cultural group in Ndokwa Land, Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) has kicked off an N50million campaign for health projects in Ndokwa nation.

The project tagged ’50million Health For All Trust Fund’ was an initiative of the Ndokwa Neku Union Women Wing.

The women assembly grand launching of the 50million health for all trust fund took place on November 27, 2021, at Ndokwa Daughters And Wives Association (NDAWA) Hall, Kwale, Delta State.

The fundraising outing was aimed at changing the narratives in the health sector concerning the scourge of the covid-19 pandemic.

Africa Investigative Magazine (AFIMAG) gathered that NNU Women Wing had targeted N50million to drive health causes in Ndokwa geographical space.

It further gathered that the health project which will impact positively on the lives of women and children would commence between February 2022 to July 2022.

In her welcome note, the NNU Woman Leader, Prof. Julie Nwabogo E. Umukoro paid obeisance to her husband and other related authorities for the support given to them to do the work of NNU.

The Professor who goes as the Kpakpando Furuni Eze of Ase Kingdom noted that the occasion was to reposition the affairs of the Ndokwa people.

She stated that Ndokwa Nation is lagging behind and that there is a need for women to live up to expectations by playing their God-given roles.

The woman leader emphasized the utmost need to take drastic steps to address the issues bedeviling the health sector.

Prof. Mrs. Umukoro stated that the Covid-19 pandemic had consumed prominent people too numerous to mention.

“People are gathered here to raise funds because Covid-19 Pandemic took the lives of many of our people I cannot count. We must do something about our situation.

“We want to drive a medical cause. This medical cause will not only draw my attention to the European method, but we also look at our traditional method,” she said.

Prof. Julie Julie Umukoro expressed bitterness over the nation’s over-dependence on foreign products, complaining that a lot of people run to India and China for issues that could have been resolved traditionally.

Her words, “Many of our people have been running to India and China. China uses non-orthodox medicine. Why can’t we develop our own? Let us encourage our people so they don’t die with their knowledge.

“Therefore, our medical outfit that will start February will run-up to May. And in May, we are going to have what is called ‘medical tourism.

“Medical tourism is going to anchor Trado-Medical Firm. This Trade-Medical Firm is not going to be centered upon Ndokwa sons and daughters because we believe in networking. It is going to encompass all our brothers and sisters across the Midwest African region.

The woman leader stressed the need to bring home all Ndokwa children with the spirit of excellence to showcase their potentials.

“We shall bring all of them to Ndokwa land to showcase their acts so that people can now come and mingle with us, learn about us and our culture,” said Mrs. Umukoro.

The project when executed would thrive businesses, create job opportunities, and make Ndokwa Nation a tourist destination.

Also speaking at the occasion, the state commissioner of finance and chairman of the occasion, Chief Fidelis Okenmor Tilije thanked the women for the innovation and charged others to trend in the same direction.

The state financial wizard who said it was his first time to see such a development-oriented gathering in Ndokwa land charged the women to play an active part in politics.

He said that the position of women in the electoral circle cannot be undermined and urged them to unite to project their voice at the corridor of power.
