The opposition lawmakers in the National Assembly have reinstated their commitment to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari, for his failure to tackle the security challenges in the state.
The aggrieved lawmakers insisted on President Buhari’s impeachment if he could not bridge the gap in the area of security within six weeks.
The concerned lawmakers described as falsehood the report that they have set aside the plot to remove Buhari from office after the expiration of the six-week ultimatum handed down on July 27, 2022.

All parts of the country had been under terrorist attack in recent times with no calculated effort by the federall government led by Muhammadu Buhari to address it.
It could be recalled that terrorist groups launched separate attacks, destabilizing Nigerian military formation and freeing its members at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Attacking the Presidential Guards Brigade Troops at Bwari-Kubwa road, Abuja, killing a captain, lieutenant, and six soldiers while others sustained injuries was a confirmation of failure on the parts of the government.
The group attacked a checkpoint at Zuma rock, a few kilometers from the nation’s capital, and also threatened to kidnap the President.
Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that the attack by the suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist group on the Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abuja, led to the release of over 65 Boko Haram members.
It was further gathered that over a hundred hardened criminals and others standing trial as well as those serving various jail terms escaped during the attack.
Following these developments and the impeachment threat against the President by the opposition lawmakers, the National Assembly leadership had expressed fears over the worsening insecurity in the nation.
The Senate president Ahmed Lawan had summoned the security chiefs to a meeting where he described the security situation as unfortunate.
The various House Committees on Security also had a meeting with the security chiefs on the matter to no avail.
Reacting, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senator representing Osun East senatorial district, Francis Fadahunsi, confirmed that the opposition lawmakers are still on the move to remove the incompetent President.
Fadahunsi noted that it is a unanimous decision and that nothing different has been communicated to them.
“Even northern senators are in support of the impeachment; you heard Senator Clifford (Ordia) from Edo, Senator Bulkachuwa (Mohammed), and the rest. So, who are those that told them so?’’
He also said that the lawmakers would first, remove the Senate President from office to advance the moves against Buhari, adding that he had been a victim of the grave insecurity in the nation.
