TRADE BY BARTER

By Richard Ugbeh –

The early men system of living is about or have come back in Grand style to our dear country, Nigeria as a result of the redesign of the Naira notes.

The pains and agony created by this singular act of government is beyond human explanation and no one envisage that redesign of the nation’s Naira notes could lead it’s citizens to the level of suffering in search of money not Lost.

The money deposited in banks by honest individuals wasn’t got on platter of gold, it was hard earned money that deserves respect and accolades at the point of collection on demand by the depositor, simple courtsey of hand shakes is no longer in sight after transactions of any kind.

Current situation has brought greater percentage of people into state of anarchy, having money you don’t have access to is as good as not having it even in the bank. Cries and pains in the land across board no exceptions.

Now the big issue is Trade by BARTER to survive as it was in olden days, few days ago a motorcyclist known as Okada conveyed a passenger who deals on foodstuffs, on getting to her shop with the goods, before the lady could bring out the wallet that contains the agreed fare, the Okada man told the woman that he would prefer measurements of Garri equal to the amount already charged for the transportation, without argument both accepted in a jiffy.

While the Okada man left happily because he needed the Garri at that particular time but no cash. on the other hand the foodstuffs seller too equally happy because cash wasn’t enough with her at that particular time of the transaction.

Everyone is thinking on what next to survive in this precarious time. Nigerians are made to last if not what’s experienced recently would have been more deadly but we appreciate the almighty for the stuff we,re made of. No matter the challenges, never say die spirit in Nigeria man will never die.

Market men & women as a way of selling out the perishable goods in the stores have resorted to Trade by BARTER pending when the situation normalizes.

One wonders what happened to those that doesn’t have anything to exchange with. It’s better imagined than experience it because if this continues, many may revolt, though all hands on deck to see the end of this financial crisis ravaging the country.

Hard time don’t last but hard men & women do. There’s hope things will get better. Life goes on no matter the condition. Perseverance is key of life.
