Confirmed: ASUU Suspends Strike After Eight Months

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its industrial action after eight months.
The academic body acted upon an order from the appeal court to call off the strike.
The union, however, is yet to make an official pronouncement on its decision to suspend the strike.

Africa Investigative Magazine learned that the decision was taken at the end of the National Executive Council meeting held at the union secretariat, Abuja.
A NEC member who preferred anonymity confirmed the suspension of the long strike, saying; “ASUU has concluded plans to call off the strike.”
He added that the president of the body will issue an official statement that regards soon.
Recall that the academic body embarked on strike action on February 14, 2022, to protest the non-implementation of the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding reached with it by the Federal Government.
