Delta PDP Guber Crisis: Candidates To Know Fate On August 19

Afimag.com –

Following the crisis rocking Delta State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidates, the Court of Appeal in Abuja has fixed August 19, 2022, for hearing in an appeal by Sheriff Oborevwori.

Sheriff had approached the Appellate Court seeking to overturn the Federal High Court judgment which recognized Olorogun David Edevbie as the legitimate candidate of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 governorship election.

At the proceeding on August 07, 2022, the presiding judge granted a request for the abridgment of time to enable an expeditious trial.

The respondents were directed to file their replies within eight days while the appellant who doubled as the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly is to respond within two days.

Recall that on July 7, 2022, the Federal High Court faulted the certificates and other documents filed by Sheriff Oborevwori for nomination as Gubernatorial candidate of the PDP and commanded both the party and INEC to immediately recognize Olorogun David Edevbie as the legitimate candidate of the party for the forthcoming election.
