Lagos State University Property Management Unit, Ojo, has been gutted by fire, destroying properties worth billions of naira.
The fire outbreak which was suspected to have emanated from electric cable, took place on December 09, 2022.
The fire devastated the office of Directorate of Internal Audit (Property Management Unit), Deputy Director Office, Budget and Budgetary Control, and Payroll and Pension Department.
Other departments include Risk Insurance and Investment Management, Directorate of Internal Audit, Bursar Mini Registry, and Reception.
Reacting to the incident, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, said no life was lost as the financial offices were gravely destroyed by fire.

Dr. Oke-Osanyitolu said; “The electric inverter from the office led to the incident. No life lost however, the Directorate office was grossly affected by the inferno.
“The fire damage has extended to some of the ceiling claddings. The fire was promptly put out by the Lago Fire Service and agency responders.
“A post disaster risk assessment is ongoing with a view at identifying any potential hazards and secondary incident.
The cause of fire outbreak was traced to the power supply cable.
