Kokori Progress Union Advocates For Unity, Harmony In Community

The executive members of kokori Progress Union (KPU), a sub-clan in Agbon kingdom, Ethiope East local government area of Delta state has appealed to every organs and leaders including the council of chiefs in the community to be united and have a working relationship for the progress and development of the community.
The appeal was made yesterday at the second town hall meeting of kokori sub-clan organized by the National Executive Council (NEC) of KPU led by its President General, Col. Wilson Ochoroghene Ijide at Roba hotel and Garden, kokori.
In his address, Col. Wilson Ijide said that the town hall meeting will provides opportunities to clear misconceptions, rumours and acrimony which often retard peace, harmony development, and also enables open dialogue and robust conversation which can help the course of development.
While addressing the house on how the executive members are working hard to have a solid KPU to make progress, the President General pointed out some challenges confronting them which include lack of funds, security, acrimony between some families and the Council of Chiefs or Elders’ Council and the role of specificity.
Col Wilson Ochoroghene Ijide who assured kokori sub-clan that he and his executive will reposition the community for progress and development, promised to ensure that transparency is upheld in every issues concerning money.
He said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand”.
Barrister O.J Oghenejabor in his remark, urged KPU to have a working relationship between them and the Council of Chiefs by burying little hatches and work in harmony, and also admonished KPU to register every unions of kokori community and that the 2nd vice president, Revd Peter Onowhakpor to establish KPU home branch.
It was also resolved in the meeting that KPU should be abreast with all necessary documents relating to oil Host community so that they will not be working in error while pursuing their demand.
On issue of security challenges which is the major obstacle hampering peace and development of the communities, the house resolved to critically look into it.
Chief Aghwute Akporherhe Joseph thanked all the people for attending the town hall meeting as he assured the entire community that they (KPU) will ensure that every issues discussed will be looked into for the progress of kokori.
