Man Arraigned Before Lagos Special Offences Court For Alleged Forgery

The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arraigned Aladenola Pitan before Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, on April 26, 2023, over allegations of fraud.
Pitan was standing a trial at Lagos Special Offences on a 14-count charge bordering on stealing, obtaining money by false pretence, and forgery to the tune of N18, 396,488.00 (Eighteen Million Three Hundred and Ninety-six Thousand Four Hundred and Eighty-eight Naira Only).
According to the commission, Pitan has, in November 2020, allegedly forged a document with a title, “Revenue Receipt”, purported to have been issued by the Lagos State Government.
Earlier, in May 2019, Pitan was accused of forging another document with a title, “Orudu Family”, purported to have been issued by the Orudu Family.

Responding, Aladenola Pitan, however, pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when it was read before the Court.
On his part, the prosecution counsel, I.O. Daramola, asked the court for a trial date, urging that the defendant be remanded at the Correctional Centre pending the commencement of trial.
The resident Judge, Justice Mosjisola Dada, remanded the defendant and adjourned the case till June 20 and 21, 2023, for further hearing.
