Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to nurturing literary excellence, strengthening intellectual engagement, and building a knowledge-driven society.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, gave the assurance at the public presentation of the book Hallmarks of Labour, authored by Izoma Philip Chikwuendo Asiodu.
The event took place on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Governor Oborevwori noted that literature remains a powerful instrument for shaping societal values, deepening national consciousness, and inspiring future leaders.
He said Delta State is proud to associate with platforms that celebrate creativity and recognise remarkable contributions to national development.
Delivering the governor’s message, Prof. Tonukari commended Asiodu for his distinguished contribution to Nigerian letters, describing the book as an embodiment of hard work, discipline, and integrity.
He urged emerging writers to remain committed to excellence and to use their craft to promote societal progress.
The event attracted eminent personalities and literary enthusiasts, including former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.), who chaired the occasion.
Speakers at the ceremony reflected on the themes of the book, saying that the virtues that underpin meaningful achievement and the pursuit of national advancement.
The presentation also provided a platform for renewed advocacy for the promotion of reading culture and the preservation of Nigeria’s literary heritage.
