Osun Guber Poll: Appeal Court Affirms Adeleke’s Victory

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on March 24, 2023, affirmed the victory of Ademola Adeleke in the Osun State guber polls, setting aside the judgement of the State Election Petition Tribunal that nullified his victory at the July 16, 2022.

Recall that Osun State Tribunal annulled the victory of Adeleke who contested the governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, declaring Gboyega Oyetola of All Progressives Congress as the authentic winner of the poll.

According to INEC, Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to defeat then-incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC, who got 375,027 votes

Meanwhile, Oyetola and the APC rejected the result of the poll and headed for the tribunal, alleging irregularities in some parts of the state.

Nonetheless, a judgment by Justice B. Ogbuli proclaimed Adeleke as the winner of the poll.
