Power Cable Kills Two Siblings, Others In Ondo Community
Odili Ogochukwu –
Power Cable has electrocuted four children in Ile Oluji community, Okeigbo Local Government Area, Ondo State.
The children were killed by electric power during the Easter holidays while playing inside a metal container shop.
Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that two of the four children were siblings who visited their Aunt in the community to celebrate Easter with her.
It was learned that they were six children inside the metal shop when an electric capable fell on it, killing four.
Reacting, the Corporate Affairs Manager of the BEDC, Ondo State, Mr. Michael Barnabas, who was sad over the loss, consoled the family of the deceased, saying “we console the families of the affected children because life is precious and should not end prematurely.
He said the incident was injurious because the shop was under the high tension electric cable, and the company lacks the capacity and power to relocate traders (people) under high tension.
He said, “Sadly, we received information about the electrocution of four little children within our network in Ile-Oluji due to an 11kv line that snapped.
“As a company, we condole with the families of the children because life is sacred and should not end prematurely this way,” he said.
Confirming, the State Police Spokesman, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and said, “investigation is ongoing.”
She said, “it is true, an electric cable fell on a metal container shop where the deceased was staying, killing them.”
