See The Recovered Items As Police Nab Kidnapped Suspect And Vehicle Snatchers

Delta State police command has disclosed the items it recovered after arresting a kidnapped suspect and notorious tricycle, commonly known as Keke Na-peper snatchers.

The command also gave the names of the suspected vehicular snatchers as Goodluck Ahirima and Charles Oyibocha.

Both suspects were male and 24 years old.

The recovered items included one Toyota Collora, one Tricycle, one cut to size double barrel gun, one cut to size single barrel gun, and one live cartridge.

The tricycle snatchers were arrested on February 23, 2022, at noon as the men of the Nigerian police force trailed them to their hideout at Eghwarha road, Agbarho, Delta State.

They had on February 22, 2022, hired a Keke rider from PTI junction, Warri to Agbarho. On getting to Agbarho bridge along the busy Ughelli-Port Harcourt expressway, one of the hoodlums hit the rider and forced him (Keke rider) out of the vehicle.

On a different measure, the Otu-Jeremi police division in collaboration with Counter Terrorism Unit, Base 5 Warri arrested a kidnapped suspect at Ekrokpe Community.

The suspect, Onwuka Kelly was among the gang that abducted a young man (name withheld) at Egbo-Urhie Community, Ughelli South local government area, Delta State.

According to the statement made available to newsmen by the state police command spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, the division received a distress call from an unknown person in Otu-Jeremi Community over the kidnapped incident.

Dsp Edafe noted that hoodlums stormed the community and kidnapped a young man with his Toyota Corolla car.

The statement reads in part; “On the 21/02/2022 at about 2025hrs, a distress call was received from an unidentified person from Otu-Jeremi Community in Ughelli South LGA, that some hoodlums stormed the Community and kidnapped a young man along with his Toyota Corolla car.

“The DPO Otu-Jeremi Division swiftly detailed patrol teams who went on their trail but before their arrival, Policemen attached to Counter Terrorism Unit, Base 5 Warri who were escorting their principal coincidentally ran into the hoodlums.

“They trailed the hoodlums to Ekrokpe Community. The hoodlums upon sighting the Police shot at them and the team retaliated.

“The vehicle was successfully demobilized by the team and one of the suspects Onwuka Kelly, age 23yrs was arrested while the victim (name withheld) age 37yrs of the Egbo-Urhie Community of Ughelli South LGA was rescued unhurt.

“The following exhibits were recovered from the suspect: one (1) cut to size double barrel gun, one (1) cut to size single barrel gun, and one (1) live cartridge.
The investigation is ongoing.

“On the 22/2/2022 at about 1030hrs, acting on information received from a tricycle(Keke) rider that two young men flagged him down at PTI junction Effurun and hired him to convey them to Agbarho.

“The Tricycle rider further stated that on getting to Agbarho bridge along Ughelli-Portharcourt Expressway, one of the passengers hit him on the head, forced him out of the tricycle, and robbed him of his tricycle. The DPO Agbarho Division detailed operatives to investigate to arrest the suspects and recover the tricycle.

“Consequently, on the 23/2/2022 at about 1200hrs, upon an intelligence-led the investigation, the hoodlums were trailed to their hideout in Eghwarha road Agbarho, where two (2) suspects namely: Goodluck Ahirima ‘m’ age 24yrs and Charles Oyibocha ‘m’ age 24yrs were arrested and the snatched tricycle recovered. The investigation is ongoing,” it said.
