The leadership of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Zone B South -South has re- affirmed its commitment to promoting a safe, healthy, and drug free academic environment in South – South institutions.
The coordinator, NANS Zone B South – South, Comrade Victor Ogechukwu made the assertion during the ongoing drug free campus movement in Calabar, Cross River state.
The initiative according to him is aimed at curbing the alarming rate of substance abuse among students in tertiary institutions.
Comrade Ogechukwu said the leadership of NANS Zone B South South is resolute in its decision to foster a responsible living and academic excellence across tertiary institutions in Zone B South- South.
He emphasized that the fight against drug abuse is not only a moral obligation but a necessary step towards securing the future of Nigerian students.
According to him, campuses must remain centres of learning, innovation and discipline, free from the destructive influence of illicit substance.
The event featured sensitization, campaign, advocacy, discussions and strategic planning session aimed at sustaining the initiative across institutions.
Comrade Ogechukwu commended the proactive effort of NANS joint campus committee (JCC) Cross River state, assuring continued partnership to ensure comfortable and drug free academic environment.
Present at the program were Comrade Victor Ogechukwu, the chairman of NANS, JCC, Cross River state, the chairman of NANS, JCC, Delta State, Comrade Ikpahwore Samson and many others.
