Anambra Police Reiterate Zero Tolerance for Corruption, Enforce Withdrawal from VIP Duties

The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and a zero-tolerance stance on corruption within its ranks.

The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, issued the directive on Tuesday during a briefing with officers at the Command Headquarters in Awka.

According to a statement by the State police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police boss reiterated instructions from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, assuring that the Nigeria Police Force exist to serve all Nigerians and must remain accountable to the public.

Addressing officers and men of the Command, the CP stressed the need for strict adherence to professional ethics, discipline, and the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.

He warned that misconduct including extortion, abuse of office, and other unprofessional practices would not be tolerated, noting that any officer found culpable would face disciplinary action in line with existing regulations.

Orutugu also underscored the continued enforcement of the presidential directive mandating the withdrawal of police personnel from unauthorized VIP protection duties.

He cautioned officers against engaging in private security assignments not officially sanctioned, adding that violators would be appropriately sanctioned.

The Commissioner further called for a renewed commitment to people-friendly policing, respect for human rights, and improved service delivery, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General.

The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its resolve to safeguard lives and property while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
