United Kingdom Donates Covid-19 Vaccines To Ghana

In order to contain the ravaging effect of the Covid-19 pandemic, the UK Government had donated AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines to Ghana.

UK Government donated 249,600 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines to the Government of Ghana to aid her Covid-19 national vaccination programme.

Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that it was a fulfilment of UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson’s pledge.

It was futher verified that the donation was part of pledge by Mr. Boris Johnson at the G7 meeting over which UK government will share 100 million jabs with the rest of the world, of which 80% will go through COVAX.

While addressing the media at the Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Tina Mensah noted that the donation came at a time Ghanian government had dedicated a lot of her resources to check the Covid-19 pandemic, saying at the same time addressing the general health needs of the population.

She said, “the donation is a further demonstration of the partnership between the UK government and the rest of the world, of which Ghana is part, and commended the UK Government, UNICEF, WHO and other stakeholders for their continuous support.”
