Why 2022 Batch C Stream 1 Must Take Service Year Seriously -Olubukola

The Edo State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, Mrs Abiodun Olubukola, has called on Corp Members of 2022 Batch C, Stream 1 to take their Service year seriously.

Mrs. Olubukola who gave the advice recently at the orientation camp, Okada, Edo State, during the swearing-in ceremony said all hands must be on deck to achieve the purpose of NYSC

She explained that Swearing – in Ceremony is a formal induction of Prospective Corp Members to become Corp Members.

While Congratulating them on their successful completion of studies, Olubukola appreciated the new corp members for their integrity by accepting Edo State as a state of deployment.

On orientation course, the state coordinator clarified that it was designed to introduce corp members to the objectives and programs of NYSC, adding that it equips corp members with respective skills throughout their service year and beyond.

She said, “Through lessons, entrepreneurship development, leadership coaching and Paramilitary training, as well as specialisation on topical issues, amongst others.

“It is a platform for being active in various activities that will enable them realise their potential and attain physical fitness both during and after their service year.”

She enjoined them to utilise this lifetime opportunity by participating in all camp activities.

She said that the objective of NYSC is to promote National Unity and integration, that is why youths from different backgrounds, ethnics and religion was deployed to Edo State.

According to the coordinator, it is also an opportunity for a broader understanding of the country and also entrench the Culture of working together in an atmosphere filled with peace, harmony and sure vision of a great Nigeria.

She reminded them that the Oath of allegiance they have taken is significant as it is expected to guide and as well an everlasting effect on their life after service.

She also enjoined them to familiarise themselves with the NYSC by laws , She implored them to Sustain the level of discipline they have demonstrated so far, especially by remaining compliant with Camp rules and regulations.

Adding that they must continue to distance themselves from cultism, drugs abuse and social vices, she also urges them to avoid using the social media for spreading fake news, welling hatred and other negative purposes.

They should develop the same for the promotion of National Unity Unity.

She advised them to be security concious at all times and to report any suspicious character or activities around them to the appropriate authority .

She reminded then that white collar jobs are not readily available, therefore, she encouraged them to avail themselves of the opportunity of self employment through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Program.

They are expected to choose any of the skills area and make themselves available for the training which starts from the Orientation Camp.

She reminded them to adhere to the rules of physical distancing, wearing of face masks and the use of hand washing facilities provided at strategic positions in the Camp.

She also told them to avail themselves the opportunity to take the Covid – 19 Vaccine that will be administered in the state.

Mrs. Olubukola, however, thanked the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and various security agencies for collaborating with NYSC
