Obidient Movement Condemns Assault on Aniocha South Coordinator, Demands Justice

The Obidient Movement in Delta State has condemned in strong terms the assault on its Aniocha South Local Government Area Coordinator, Mr. Asikawili Mojume Godwin, who was reportedly attacked by unidentified individuals.

In a statement by the Director of Media and Communications, Comrade Elijah Richard Oghenero, the group described the incident as “unfortunate and unacceptable,” stressing that it undermines democratic values and the fundamental rights of citizens.

“The Obidient Movement is not a political party but a civic platform advocating for a new Nigeria anchored on justice, equity, and progress. Our advocacy is rooted in peace, inclusivity, and the protection of human rights,” the statement read.

The group called on security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice, noting that such action would serve as a deterrent to future occurrences.

Reacting to the incident, the State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement in Delta, Comrade Favour Emerure, described the assault as “a direct attack on the collective will of the people who yearn for a new order.”

He said the Movement would not be intimidated or distracted by such cowardly actions, adding that the safety of its members remained a top priority.

“We stand firmly with Mr. Godwin and all our coordinators across the state. Any attempt to silence our voices through violence will fail because our struggle is bigger than individuals. It is about securing a better Nigeria for all,” Emerure stated.

While condemning the assault, the Obidient Movement urged its members and the general public to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding, insisting that no form of intimidation would deter it from its commitment to a better Nigeria.
