APC Mocks Peter Obi After Losing Polling Unit in Anambra Election

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has ridiculed Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, after he reportedly lost his polling unit to the APC in the just-concluded Anambra State governorship election.

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC Lagos spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the outcome of the poll was a “loud rejection” of what he described as the “Obidient movement,” claiming it had proven to be “a social media illusion with no real grassroots support.”

Oladejo described the result as “a public humiliation” for Obi, asserting that the former Anambra governor had been rejected by his own community.

“The people who know Peter Obi best, his neighbours, his community, his supposed natural base have delivered an unmistakable verdict: we reject you,” Oladejo said.

He accused Obi of building his political appeal “on self-righteous speeches, emotional manipulation, and misleading statistics,” alleging that the Labour Party leader had deceived many young Nigerians during the 2023 general election.

“A man who cannot win his polling unit has no business dreaming of winning a country. A man rejected on his own street cannot claim nationwide acceptance,” the APC spokesperson said.

Oladejo further argued that the outcome of the Anambra poll marked “the disintegration of the myth” around Obi’s popularity, contrasting his record with that of President Bola Tinubu, whom he credited with “rebuilding institutions, fixing the economy, and attracting foreign investments.”

He added, “The APC’s victory in Obi’s polling unit is symbolic, conclusive, and prophetic. It reflects the national mood; performance is triumphing over propaganda, structure is defeating chaos, and delivery is destroying deception.”

The Anambra election, which was largely peaceful but marred by allegations of vote-buying, saw the APC candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, win several key polling units, including Obi’s.
