The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has convened a reconciliation meeting ahead of its forthcoming congress, with party leaders emphasizing the need for unity, peace, and collective action to strengthen the party ahead of 2027 elections.

Speaking during the meeting held on March 28, 2026, in Ughelli, party chieftain, Hon. Akpovoka Julius, called for peace and reconciliation among the various factions within the party, stressing that unity remains essential to the ADC’s electoral success.

According to him, the party must close ranks and function as one family in order to achieve its political objectives and provide the change Nigerians desire.

“We want peace. Peace must reign for ADC to win elections. We must work together as one family to bring the needed change Nigerians desire,” he said.

Hon. Akpovoka also expressed concern over the prevailing economic challenges confronting Nigerians, lamenting that poor leadership has pushed the prices of goods and services beyond the reach of average income earners.

Akpovoka assured party members that the ADC remains committed to ensuring that the nation’s resources are effectively utilized for the benefit of all citizens if entrusted with leadership.

He further urged party leaders and members to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts, noting that the strength of the party lies significantly in its registration drive and its ability to expand its support base across communities.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting, the ADC Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Hon. Moses Ojanoma Sunday, charged members to put past grievances behind them and embrace unity for the progress of the party.

Moses Ojanoma stated that reconciliation and cooperation among stakeholders are critical to building a formidable platform ahead of the upcoming congress and future electoral contests.

On his part, Prophet Brown Onojayefe, the party’s LGA chieftain in Sapele, reaffirmed the ADC’s commitment to resolving internal conflicts, noting that the various factions within the party would merge on or before the congress.

Brown Onojayefe added that the meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the party leadership to foster internal cohesion and reposition the ADC for greater political relevance in the state and beyond.

The highlight of the meeting was the distribution of congress forms to ward and LGA chairmen, a move seen as a significant step in preparations for the forthcoming party exercise.
