Delta CP Orders Tactical Teams Deployment to Abraka Amid Rising Insecurity

In a decisive move to counter the recent upsurge in violent crimes in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical units to strategic locations across the community.

The action follows growing concern among residents and widespread reports on social media about the deteriorating security situation in the area.

CP Abaniwonda assured the public that the Command is fully committed to restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property.

A statement by Delta State Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP. Edafe Bright, said the Police Boss has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, DCP Aina Adesola, to coordinate and supervise the deployment of various tactical units.

Edafe noted that the deployment included operatives from the Dragon Patrol, Safer Highway Patrol, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU).

These units have been tasked with conducting round-the-clock patrols, setting up strategic checkpoints, and executing intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, particularly those involved in kidnapping and armed robbery.

According to the statement, the Delta Police Commissioner reiterated its commitment security and safety of Deltans, saying that no stone will be left unturned in the efforts to ensure the safety of lives and properties.”

He also urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could incite fear or panic. Instead, residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity through the Command’s emergency lines and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
