Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Anambra State Police Command have made significant progress in the ongoing investigation into a recent kidnap and murder case.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers recovered a locally made Beretta pistol, eleven live cartridges, and two laptops on June 3, 2025, in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
A statement by the state command image maker, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the recovery followed information provided by a detained suspect, 26-year-old Ebuka Orizu, who is currently in police custody in connection with the case.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Orizu is a member of a notorious criminal gang responsible for a series of criminal activities in Oraifite and surrounding communities.
According to Ikenga, efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and preventing further criminal activities across the state,” SP Ikenga stated.
He, however, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station as the Command reiterated its resolve to rid the state of criminal elements and maintain law and order.
