A cross-section of distinguished professionals in governance, law, public administration and development has been confirmed as discussants for the 2026 edition of BEL Dialogue, with the organisers promising robust conversations on strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Secretary of the Advisory Board and Executive Director of BEL Dialogue, Mr. Emmanuel O. Enebeli, announced the panel in a statement, describing the selection as a reflection of the organisers’ commitment to bringing together accomplished professionals with extensive experience in governance, legal practice, public administration, policy advocacy and civic engagement.
Those confirmed as discussants are Dr. (Barr.) Wilfred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP; Dr. Egondu Grace Ikeatu; Hon. Gibson Akporhe; Amb. Augusta Chibuzor Keneboh; and Professor Andrew Agboro.
According to Enebeli, the panelists will lead discussions on the theme, “Democracy That Works: Bridging the Gap Between Votes, Results and Institutional Accountability,” focusing on electoral integrity, institutional transparency, accountable leadership, citizen participation and practical reforms aimed at strengthening democratic governance.
He said the dialogue is designed to provide a platform for critical engagement on issues affecting Nigeria’s democracy, while encouraging stakeholders to identify workable solutions that will enhance institutional accountability and public confidence in the electoral process.
Enebeli noted that BEL Dialogue has consistently attracted credible voices from diverse sectors, creating opportunities for participants to exchange ideas, share experiences and develop practical recommendations for improving governance and democratic development.
He expressed optimism that this year’s edition would stimulate meaningful public discourse capable of contributing to stronger democratic institutions, responsible leadership and greater accountability in public service.
The 2026 BEL Dialogue is scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at David’s Event Centre, Anwai Road, opposite Temple Clinic Junction, Asaba.
Former Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Hon. Mike Igini, will chair the event, while the Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, will attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
The interactive session will be moderated by veteran broadcaster and General Manager of Kruzz FM, Asaba, Mr. Lawrence Okpewho.
Organisers expressed confidence that the recommendations expected from the dialogue would contribute meaningfully to ongoing efforts to deepen democratic governance, promote transparency and strengthen institutional accountability as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
