The United Ndokwa for Growth and Development Association (UNGDA) has formally requested the support of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to facilitate the use of its Training Centre in Utagba-Ogbe, Kwale, Delta State, for vocational training and empowerment programmes targeted at youths and women across Ndokwa Nation.
The request, contained in a letter jointly signed by the association’s Chairman, Mr. Kunili Shola Friday, and General Secretary, Mr. Enwu Ifeanyi, forms part of UNGDA’s broader commitment to promoting sustainable development through human capital investment.
The association said the proposed partnership with the NDDC would provide a platform for delivering structured vocational training, entrepreneurship development, ICT education, leadership development and other empowerment programmes for youths and women across Ndokwa Nation.
UNGDA is a registered, non-profit and non-partisan organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable development through education, entrepreneurship, youth and women empowerment, as well as community advancement.
The association stated that access to the NDDC Training Centre, located on Hospital Road, Utagba-Ogbe, Kwale, would enable it to organise practical skills acquisition programmes aimed at equipping participants with marketable skills for self-employment and economic independence.
According to the association, the proposed programmes are designed to enhance entrepreneurship, reduce unemployment and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for young people and women, while contributing to the socio-economic development of Ndokwa Nation and the wider Niger Delta region.
UNGDA noted that investing in human capital remains one of the most effective approaches to tackling unemployment and poverty, stressing that empowering people with practical skills would strengthen local economies, promote innovation and foster inclusive development.
The association assured the Commission that the training facility would be utilised responsibly and strictly for developmental purposes, adding that it would comply with all regulations governing the use of the centre and ensure its proper maintenance.
It also expressed its readiness to collaborate with the NDDC and other stakeholders in implementing programmes that align with the Commission’s mandate of promoting sustainable development through capacity building and economic empowerment.
The association further maintained that granting the request would complement the NDDC’s ongoing human capital development initiatives and strengthen grassroots efforts aimed at creating jobs, reducing poverty and improving livelihoods across the Niger Delta.
They, however, express their appreciation to the Commission for its developmental interventions in the region and reaffirmed UNGDA’s commitment to partnering with government institutions and development agencies to deliver impactful programmes that will improve the living standards of the people of Ndokwa Nation.
