The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has reiterated the commitment of the state legislature to collaborate with critical stakeholders in advancing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
Guwor made the pledge when he received members of the “Coalition of Academics for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori” in his office at the Assembly complex in Asaba.
He urged Deltans across political, ethnic, and social lines to support the Governor’s development-focused agenda, noting that Governor Oborevwori had demonstrated exceptional dedication to the progress of the state.
Describing socio-economic development as a shared responsibility, the Speaker commended the administration’s achievements, stressing that the Governor “has performed beyond expectations.”
He praised the coalition for aligning with the vision of the state government, expressing confidence that the pedigree of its members, including former Commissioner for Environment and Works, would further enhance good-governance efforts.
Guwor encouraged the academics to leverage their influence in spreading awareness about the Governor’s developmental strides.
“It is not about the Governor or any individual; it is about Delta State,” he said, reaffirming the legislature’s synergy with other arms of government to ensure policies and programmes translate into tangible benefits for residents.
The Speaker added: “As Speaker, I can assure you that the Governor is doing wonderfully well and deserves commendation. We will continue to work closely with groups like yours to strengthen governance outcomes for the people.”
Earlier, the group’s coordinator, Prof. Lawrence Omo-Aghoja, said their visit was to acknowledge the Speaker’s exemplary leadership of the Assembly.
He applauded the seamless relationship between the executive and legislature, describing it as vital to sustaining the state’s development trajectory.
The coalition reaffirmed its unwavering support for Governor Oborevwori, commending his leadership style and ongoing efforts to advance the welfare of Deltans.
