General Mike Ndubuisi (Rtd): A Leader Born At Due Season
By Richardson Ogwezzy
In Nigeria, every ethnic nationality has an apex socio-cultural group with a leadership structure. The leadership of the organization seeks effective realization of the dreams of its people.
The emergence of Gen. Mike Ndubuisi (Rtd) as the president general of Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) is not by accident. This was made possible by his achievement. It called for celebration in Ndokwa nation.
Before election, Gen. Ndubuisi was a household name as many people have benefited immensely from him in one way or the other.
His interest to vie for such sensitive position made other aspirants vying for the same position to withdraw their intentions. These aspirants adjudged him credible and fit to steer the affairs of Ndokwa nation.
Gen. Mike Ndubuisi is an astute entrepreneur who has employed and empowered many Ndokwa people. He has also demonstrated keen interest in the affairs of NNU long ago before his emergence as the president general.
Apart from that, many sons and daughters of Ndokwa Nation have testified of his positive and urgent responses when called upon. The contribution of Gen. Ndubuisi to the success of Ndokwa people is immeasurable. I believe that his antecedents gave him victory at the election as they want to give him an opportunity to resuscitate the ethnic group so that Ndokwa people will no longer play a second fiddle in the scheme of things.
Our people have great expectations on the present NNU leadership. One major problem militating against the smooth running of the union is political interference. But the good news is that political office holders cannot be at the same time become an executive of NNU.
It is a welcome development because this will enable the executives to doggedly pursue their dreams and aspirations with sense of independence. It is believed that when politicians become NNU executives, they may not be active especially when the issue affects the government.
Observation has shown that ethnic groups with notable politicians and socio-cultural body operating at different capacities yields greater result. No wonder other ethnic nationalities in Delta State develop more than Ndokwa Nation.
The people of Ndokwa are proud of Gen. Mike Ndubuisi and his executives. We pray you give priority to the principal issues affecting us. We want the new NNU to bring development to Ndokwa Nation. We also expect NNU to influence the oil companies in our land to participate in the socio-economic transformation of the host communities and other communities negatively affected by their operations.
The executives and members of Ndokwa Neku Union should remember that IPP Gas Plant at Okpai (Ndokwa East Local Government) supplies power to other parts of the country while Ndokwa communities are enveloped with darkness. It is also sad to say that none of the son and daughter of Ndokwa Nation is a member of Niger Delta Development Commission despite the oil exploration in our land.
The NNU executives is encouraged to work out the modalities to convince the prominent Ndokwa sons and daughters home and Diaspora to invest on Ndokwa people by establishing more scholarship foundations, creation of job opportunities and skill acquisition programmes.
NNU should set every machinery in motion to revitalize our political structure by uniting politicians in such a way that in spite of political affiliations, Ndokwa nation should be able to form a common front in pursuing the same goal which is development.
Honorably, I call on all and sundry to support the present executives to enable them realize our collective objectives.
Ndokwa UNITED, We STAND!
