Lionel Messi, Three Others Test Positive For COVID-19

Paris Saint-Germain have said Lionel Messi and three others of her players have tested positive for COVID-19.

The club made the disclosure in a statement by its chief operative officer.

Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that the number of Covid-19 cases in France has surpassed 200,000 a day this week.

The statement listed the players to include the Ballod d’Or winner and former Bacelona player, Lionel Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan.

Juan Bernat Velasco is a Spanish footballer who plays as a left-back for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Spain national team.

Sergio Rico is a Spanish and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper who started his career in Sevilla. The 28 years old has  won the Europa League twice.

Paris Saint German also revealed that the players are in isolation, and that they would observe the Covid-19 health protocol.

It was learned that the absence of the players is a big blow to the club as it faces a French Cup match against the Vannes.

The Argentine super star alongside the other affected players would miss the Monday’s match and the game against Lyon next Sunday 09 January 2022.

Part of the statement said, “The four players that tested positive for COVID-19 are Leo Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala.

“They are currently in isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol.”
