A wedding in Jigawa State, Nigeria, has turned tragic after the bride allegedly poisoned the food served at the reception, leaving one guest dead and the groom critically ill.
The incident occurred in the Jahun Local Government Area, with eyewitnesses suggesting the bride’s actions may have been driven by a personal vendetta.
According to Shi’isu Adam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the police have arrested two suspects, including the bride and another female, in connection with the alleged food poisoning incident.
The suspects are currently in custody and being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The police have confirmed that all the wedding attendants who consumed the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, except for the one person who was confirmed dead.
The authorities have not disclosed the identities of the deceased, the groom, and other victims.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have urged the public to remain calm, assuring that justice will be served.
