See What Activist Said About Delta Governor’s Construction Project Under High Tension
A Human Rights Activist, Comrade Victor Ojie voice out against the decision of Delta State Government to construct mini-marts under power cables in Asaba, alleging that it is a death-trap.
Victor Ojie, fondly called Wong Box predicted the death of Deltans particularly the occupants of Asaba, as a construction projects is ongoing under transmission cables in one of the busiest locations in the state capital.
Civil Societies condemned the Government’s decision to carry out such project under a life threatening power cables.

It was gathered that construction of Car Sales Stand, Fruits Shops and Mini-Mart is ongoing under high tension along summit road, Asaba, the state capital.
Africa Investigative Magazine learned that Gov Ifeanyi Okowa has earlier executed Mini-Mart projects by NTA junction and at the front of Federal Medical Centre at Nebisi road.
In his reaction, Victor Ojie who doubled as the public relations officer, coalition of civil societies group, asaba said, “On 31st of January 2020, the Executive Governor of Delta State was invited to approve fruit shops built under high Tension Transmission Cables.

“We did all to bring the attention of stakeholders but we were ignored, they said we hate the Government simply because we wanted them to do the right thing. We are not members of PDP, APC or any Political party in Nigeria.
“We are a Civil Rights Organization/Saddled with a selfless duty of working alongside state actors and non-state actors for the betterment of the society at large.”
According him, civil societies have met with the state governor and other respective authorities to shun the life threatening project but their suggestions were not taken.

“Lately, we also reached out again to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Delta, Ministry of Urban Renewal Commissioner, Commissioner for Ministry of Energy/Power, Delta Capital Territory Development Agency but till date we were ignored despite advising them on the dangers of trading under high tension transmission cables,” he said.
His words: “Death Of Deltans Is Coming Dear Deltans, Delta State Government has been constructing car sales stands, fruit shops, and mini-marts under high tension transmission cables along summit road lately, they had already constructed by nta junction (off okpanam Road, and even at the front of Federal Medical Centre in 2020. On 31st of January 2020, the Executive Governor of Delta State was invited to approve fruit shops built under high Tension Transmission Cables.
