Solskjaer Explains Why Manchester United Midfield Struggled With Wolves
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United’s midfielders struggled to deal with the ‘rhythm’ of the match in their weekend win over Wolves.
United wasn’t at their best at Molineux on Sunday afternoon but still escaped with all three points after Mason Greenwood netted a late winner.
Wolves had dominated for the majority of the match and in particular within how they bossed the midfield battle against a new-look United lineup.
Scotland international Scott McTominay has been sidelined through injury which saw United switch to a midfield trio of Fred, Bruno Fernandes, and Paul Pogba; with the Frenchman vacating his left-wing role for Jadon Sancho the make his full debut for the club.
The tactical switch left United light in defensive midfield and Solskjaer believes that as a result, his side struggled to deal with the frantic pace of the match in the first half.
“Have you not seen the game where Paul was playing?” Solskjaer told reporters when quizzed on the midfield balance vs Wolves.
