The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two suspects, Monday Egbe, 32, and Kenneth Nnoga, 28, in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a female bank manager in Onitsha.
The suspects were arrested on May 28, 2025, after a thorough investigation led police to their hideout in a neighboring state.
A statement by Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the state security operatives are working to uncover more insights into the gang’s operations and ensure that all members are brought to justice.
According to Ikenga, the victim’s lifeless body was discovered on January 13, 2025, along Nnobi Road, with her eyes tied, after the abductors had collected a ransom of ₦14 million from her family.
The police operatives tracked the suspects to their hideout, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.
The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to uncover more details about the operations of the criminal gang and to identify other members involved.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has assured the public that the case will be pursued to its logical conclusion, and justice will be served.
CP Ikioye Orutugu emphasized that the command will continue to follow up on cases until suspects are apprehended, preventing further criminal activities in the state.
