‘We Will Partner PTA To Resuscitate Education’ – Delta Commissioner
The Delta State Government would partner with Parent Teachers Association (PTA) to assist in bridging the gap at Public schools in the state.
The State government wants the Association to be revived so that parents can raise their observations.
The Honorable Commissioner for Primary Education, Hon. Chika Ossai disclosed this in Asaba during an interview with newsmen.

Hon Ossai who canvasses for the return of Parents Teachers’ Association, noted that parents can assist in running of the schools in the face of acute teacher shortage.
He stated that the government has upgraded Public Schools, making it better than Private Schools in area of service delivery, learning spaces and teachers’ welfare.
It could be recalled that 50 percent of minimum wage for primary school teachers has been approved which would take effect from February.

Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that most of the public schools in the state lacked teachers while a few others is dilapidated, calling for attention.
It was furthered that the administration of Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has renovated about 1,125 (One Thousand One Hundred and Twenty Five) Primary Schools and 465 (Four Hundred Sixty Five) Secondary Schools across the State.

While commenting on standard of education in the state, the honor commissioner blamed the stagnation on education on the policy making, saying that TC2 and NCE holders who are the major teachers at the primary education level are not enough.
Asked on how to address the issue of lack of teachers at primary schools, Hon Chika revealed that the state government has directed the local government to look into it.
