Yamal Prioritises World Cup Glory as Spain Reach Semi-finals

Spanish teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has insisted that lifting the FIFA World Cup trophy with Spain matters far more to him than adding to his personal goal tally.

The Barcelona winger made the remarks after Spain booked their place in the World Cup semi-finals with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Belgium on Friday.

Midfielder Fabián Ruiz gave Spain the lead before Belgium equalised through Charles De Ketelaere.

Substitute Mikel Merino struck a late winner in the 88th minute to send the European champions into the last four, where they will face France.

Yamal was named Player of the Match for another influential display. Reflecting on his role in the team, Yamal said he was not concerned about whether he found the back of the net.

“I’m not frustrated if I don’t score goals. At the Euros, I scored one. What matters is winning this World Cup. If we win it, nobody will remember whether I scored or not.”

The 18-year-old’s comments have drawn praise for highlighting teamwork over individual accolades. Despite being one of Spain’s brightest attacking talents, Yamal stressed that collective success remains his greatest ambition.

With Spain now preparing for a blockbuster semi-final clash against France, Yamal’s selfless approach is expected to boost confidence within Luis de la Fuente’s squad as they continue their pursuit of a second FIFA World Cup title.
