MOMENT OF TRUTH: Death Is Painful
Richard Ugbeh –
Yes, in this volume of MOT, I remember the founding fathers of this once a great Nation, Nigeria. You know them, I read about them but never met them one on one before their natural and accidental demise. ONWUBUYA literally means Death is Painful.
One may go further to ask why is it so painful that on daily basis we tend to remember one or more dead persons that we either know in person or read about them? Many factors could be attributed to such occasion of remembrance, if not, the dead are gone, gone forever.
On few occasions we tend to remember them when things are okay but on many occasions we equally do that when things are getting out of hand. Bad condition do not favour beauty, hence, our thoughts from time to time, the dead comes to our mind. If Chief, Ogbuefi, Onotu, igwe , Dr. Prof etc was there, such wouldn’t have happened. If not the death of my father/Mother, so and so would have been easy for me and the rest.
Unrossy situations. Back to my beloveth country, we remember the likes of Dr. Zik of Africa, High Chief Awo, Sir Abubakar Balewa, even our not so long in service, Dr. Ebele Jonathan, Alh. Yar,adua, Abacha, Baba OBJ where all remembered in time like this. Uncomfortable, able bodied men and women become disabled for not causes of theirs.
A situation where consumable items for the common man/woman on the streets are no longer for the commoners. It’s no longer a laughing matter. Why wouldn’t they think of our past heroes?
As I said earlier, unrossy situations could lead one to remember the departed. If one could get at least daily needs at a reasonable prices, attend to other issues without much ado, why the backward thinking.
Every situation a nation found itself bores down on leadership. Is likend to “a captain of a ship and the crew on board “Why is it too difficult for the successive people in authority to correct if it was a mistake? Could it be arrangee or organised Modus operandi to put an end to a whole Nation?
Citizens have been trying their best, but it seems the best is not good enough to give desired results needed. Where are we? In trance or transit?
ONWUBUYA, if they were around, the smiles we had with them, wouldn’t have faded away like mynthylated spirit. Why can’t the leaders adopt the dictum of ” No correction no new work”. With this slogan of No correction no new work propounded by Moment of Truth, things will normalise in no distance time.
Try it and see , no fee needed, free of charge, a gift from MOT gbammm. I remember late Celestine Ukwu and his philosophical band that released the hit track ” ONWUBUYA in the early 70s that gave birth to this volume Captioned”.
May the souls of the departed continue to rest in peace.
