MOMENT OF TRUTH: A Search Without End

Richard Ugbeh –

Some years ago, a Rolex wrist watch was declared missing by a room mate. Frantic efforts were made to ensure the missing item was recovered, all efforts yielded no fruitful result.

In 1982, a brand new Peogout 504 saloon car, GL series was stolen along Lagos Asaba road, Agbor, it was  a talk of the Town then. Similar efforts were made by concerned citizens for the recovery of the car, till now the search is still on.

Any stealing, robbery of any kind masterminded by an insider or close associates is always difficult to yield good results. It’s worst when the conspirators or perpetrators are involved in the search.

Just forget it. One will search, search and search till thy kingdom come. There are many instances of orchestrated stealing, murder out there, no trace, because someone very close is involved.

In October 19, 1986, my Oga at PEN industry, a fine writer of great repute, Dele Giwa, was gruesomely murdered by the people that were not comfortable with his style of writing, the same set of people were in search of the KILLER.

Getting the killer was a task that must be done as we were promised. It got to a stage, newspapers created a column asking “Who killed Dele Giwa? This question without answer was on for sometime, until the same power brokers became uncomfortable with the question and issued a strong warning to END THE QUESTION. End of discussion. Search without end.

The enemies within, are mostly the architect of misfortune that occurs to one. Wicked world. Blood is no longer thicker than water.

I remember all as if it was yesterday . I will rather stay poor according to James Hardly Chase, yes from the depths of my mind. What shall it profit a man to make another man weep? What is best today and attractive would be obsolete, inattractive tomorrow.

Nothing is permanent, better things still ahead. Some killed because of Peogout 404, 504, 505 evolution, Mercedes Benz padded etc, those brand of cars are no longer in Vogue.

The beautiful ones are not yet born.
We have searched enough. May God continue to guide us in the right direction.
