Delta Activist Harrison Gwamnishu Raises Safety Concerns Over His Volunteer Role in Security Operations

Delta-born activist and volunteer crime-tracker, Harrison Gwamnishu, has voiced concerns about his safety and working relationship with security personnel amid his continued support for law-enforcement operations across the country.

In his social media post on Wednesday, Gwamnishu clarified that his involvement is not intended to undermine or replace trained security officers.

He accorded his respect for those who risk their lives daily to protect citizens, stressing that his volunteer work is purely driven by a desire to support national security efforts.

He noted, however, that the atmosphere surrounding his participation has become worrisome, particularly with reports of discomfort among some security personnel and their superiors.

According to him, this tension raises legitimate questions about trust and personal safety while working in the field.

“I am not trying to make anyone feel incompetent. I know how it might look when a civilian appears to be doing a job meant for security personnel. I respect those who do this work full-time. But how do I continue working without fear when I know some personnel with me may have superiors who are unhappy with my involvement?” Asked Gwamnishu.

Gwamnishu, who has gained nationwide recognition for helping track and apprehend suspects through technology, said the volunteer work has been challenging but rewarding.

He acknowledged his imperfections but maintained that his efforts have shown the value of tech-driven crime-fighting.

“This voluntary job has taught me a lot. Despite my mistakes and weaknesses, I have consistently shown that criminals can be tracked and apprehended through technology,” he added.

He further expressed concern that unclear intentions from those around him in the bush could place him at risk, noting that he cannot predict decisions or orders from higher authorities.

Despite these fears, the activist affirmed that he remains committed to serving Nigeria and would willingly accept an official security role if called upon.

Gwamnishu, however, expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support and prayers.
