See Why Prisons Allow Chidinma, Others Compete In Beauty Pageant
The Nigerian Prison Service (NPS), has given reasons why it allowed a 300-level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, Chidinma Ojukwu, and other inmates under its custody to take part in a beauty pageant.
Chidinma Ojukwu who was the principal suspect in the alleged murder of the owner of Super TV, Mr. Usifo Ataga in June 2021, is facing trial for the offence at the Lagos High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.
The photos of the alleged killer of Usifo who had went viral on social media since Wednesday sparked reactions from the public for allowing her to take part in the event.

Commenting, Lagos State Command, Nigeria Prison Service said the event was organized to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD).
Recall that IWD was celebrated on March 08, 2022, in honour of the social, political and economic achievements of women globally.
This is abnormal, a complete show of shame. What comes across as excrement on the corridor of justice is totally in contrast to the quality, credibility, dignity, peace and progress that women represent for which they deserve the international celebration. Celebrating murder suspect and other suspects in custody is certainly not the best that Nigerian government under President Buhari, his Minister of Interior and Director General of the Service could project to the world as a way to mark International Women’s Day.
To what’ level can common sense be so uncommon to this APC regime? It’s a shame that issue of this high sensitivity could be given a silly excuse that insults the men and women of good conscience, especially the painful hearts of the family of the murdered Mr Usifo Ataga.
