The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced nationwide training for the Supervisory Presiding Officers, (SPOs) that will participate in the general election.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu made this known on Tuesday in Abuja after a visit to the training of those that will officiate in the Federal Capital Territory.
He said that the SPOs are the people that would supervise the presiding officers that would conduct the election at the polling unit level.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu said that they would swear to an oath of Neutrality and Allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He told the trainees that an Identity Cards would be given to them and they would be conveyed to their various locations in vehicles that are marked for election duty.
Professor Yakubu said that the actual number of the Supervisory Presiding Officers needed in the FCT were 282.
He said that the training for the presiding officers would commence on the 14th of this month simultaneously nationwide.
The Director Electoral Institute, Dr Saad Idris in an interview said the first phase of the training would be theoretical while the second day would be the technical aspect where the SPOs would be trained using BVAS.
Dr Idris said that the commission would also train collation officers.
