MoT: The Young Shall Grow
MOMENT OF TRUTH with Richard.
Between 70s and 90s, even till now, there is an inscription on Vehicles of all kinds down to Motorcycle: “The Young shall Grow”. Then every word of it has its meaning to the latter not until I started perceiving some elements of doubt and fear on the ones inscription I cherished so much as a teenager.
The young shall Grow, yes a topic worthy to be properly examined, especially here in our dear country, Nigeria.
A yam tendrils need the support of a farmer before it can climb its stick-stand. When the farmer has succeeded in assisting the tendrils to grow, later on the farmer gets a better yield of the farm because of the assistance rendered in the past.
Now that our Youths are mostly affected by this axiom – The Young shall Grow, how do we expect them to attain their desire and deserved position in life when the front runners have refused totally to hand over the baton to the incoming youth?
Go to any establishment for employment, the first question to encounter is, how many years experience do you have? Simple question but it is hard for Nigeria youths seeking employment because at the age 40 years he never worked in any establishment. Still we keep on believing the young shall Grow.
A position occupied by a few, is assumed a position for life, falsification of documents already tendered, better still presenting fresh ones to meet the current requirements is allowed, all to retain the position occupied even when it’s overtly clear that age is not on his/her side.
Retirement is mostly for those not deeply connected. Retrenchment, downsize or whatever you call it that suppose to create room for new intake is equally bastardized.
Your boss who felt your CV is a threat to him no matter how hard working one may be, may find his/her name listed for quick evaluation. Your boss in any establishment determines your growth in that organization, if you’re fortunate to have a boss that’s hardworking and disciplined, you too must possess the same attitude towards your job schedule for you to be in the same page with him.
If you’re hardworking with a boss who occupies the position base on relationship with any of Directors, believe me your job is at stake, this young chap thinks he can take my position, NO WAY, his assumptions.
The earlier the frontrunners realize that the young can’t grow when the baton is still with them, the better and is only then the young shall Grow in real sense of it.
Even in midst of all the abnormalities, the Young ones are made to survive, trying to create something for themselves, matching side by side trying to overcome the challenges created by the sit tight syndrome. Thank God because nothing is too big for GOD to conquer hence we ” GOD IS GOOD.
