FCCPC Shutdown Chinese Supermarket Over Discrimination Against the host country.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, on April 22, 2024, shutdown a Chinese supermarket at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja over discrimination against Nigerians.

The enterprise is situated along the China General Chamber of Commerce, FCT, Abuja.

Shutting down the entity became paramount as the management of the supermarket implemented a policy barring the indigenes of the host country – Nigeria from accessing the place.

FCCPC personnel sealed up the business entity after varieties of interrogations of Nigerian workers at the supermarket.

The supermarket only granted exclusive entry to Chinese nationals in the country.

According to the facility manager of the complex, Shaibu Sanusi, Nigerians from outside the complex do not shop but Nigerians within can access it.

Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that the owner of the supermarket, whose name was unknown at press time, fled the premises upon the arrival of the FCCPC officials.

It was further gathered that the workers were largely Nigerians.
