The commissioner for Finance in Rivers state, Isaac Kamalu, has tendered a voluntary resignation on April 24, 2024.

Details of resignation was contained in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Danagogo.

Kamalu expressed displeasure over the decision of the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara to redeploy him to another ministry.

Gov Fubara, earlier, announced Kalamu’s redeployment from the Finance Ministry to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowermen which was rejected by the commissioner.

Kamalu further attributed his resignation to absence of peace in Rivers State despite the peace pact by President Bola Tinubu last December.

The governor had on Tuesday implemented a minor cabinet reshuffle in the state and moved Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) while Kamalu was moved to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.

The Rivers State Government did not offer the rationale behind their redeployment.

However, they were reinstated as part of the peace agreement initiated by the President Bola Tinubu after some commissioners resigned last year.
