The Convener of Teens_Stars Skill Training, Mrs Christabel Ebhonu, says investing in teenagers will help build a better future for the nation.
She made the remarks during a skill acquisition programme organised for 81 teenagers at Ubulu-Unor, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Ebhonu said youths were the bedrock of every nation and deserved proper attention for their development and empowerment.
According to her, investment in youths would create a better future for both the beneficiaries and the nation at large.
She explained that Teens_Stars was part of BreakitDown Initiative, the umbrella body committed to empowering teenagers with knowledge, skills and values.
Ebhonu said the initiative equips young people with the skills and wisdom needed to navigate life and become self-dependent.
She urged parents to encourage their children to acquire practical skills, regardless of the certificates they obtained from school.
According to her, practical skills can provide young people with opportunities to become productive and contribute meaningfully to society.
The convener said this year’s theme, “The Vision Continues: Bigger and Better,” reflected the progress recorded by the programme.
She noted that the programme had positioned many beneficiaries for improved opportunities and brighter futures.
Ebhonu said her greatest joy was seeing teenagers grow into confident, skilled and responsible young people with better prospects.
She commended the beneficiaries, facilitators, volunteers, partners and others who contributed to the success of the programme.
She prayed God to continue protecting and blessing them and their families.
The Founder of BreakitDown Initiative, Mr Sylvester Ebhonu, urged governments and well-to-do individuals to prioritise investment in youths.
He said youths were the leaders of tomorrow and should therefore be given opportunities to develop their potential.
Ebhonu urged the participants to take advantage of the training and apply the knowledge gained to improve their lives.
Rev. Canon Amos Emordi, who spoke on “Rooted in Christ and Ready for the Future,” advised the teenagers to remain grounded in Christ.
He said staying rooted in Christ would help them prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The Co-partner of BreakitDown Initiative, Mrs Uyai-Abasi Anibogu, advised the beneficiaries to make wise career choices for a better future.
The programme featured practical training in photography, computer skills, baking and healthy drinks production.
