Kano Hisbah Confiscates Truck With 24,000 Bottles Of Beer, Nabs Suspects

The Kano State Hisbah Board said it had confiscated a truck loaded with more than 24,000 bottles of varieties of alcoholic beverages on the night of January 02, 2024.
Hisbah operatives also apprehended three of the midnight smugglers at Zaria road, Kano, while trying to escape with the alcoholic products.
The board’s Director General, Alhaji Abba Sufi, who announced this on January 03, 2024, at the board’s headquarters, said the purpose of the arrest was to check the excesses of illegal alcohol dealers in the State.
Sufi said that the Hisbah personnel in the state have been committed in ensuring that the policy against the smuggling of beer and other intoxicating substances into the state through its neighbouring state borders is highly complied with.
He said, “The truck containing over 24,000 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages was confiscated from smugglers along Zaria Road at midnight.”
He thanked Hisbah security for working with other stakeholders in the campaign against beer bringing intoxicating substances into the state.
On his part, the acting Assistant Commander General, Intelligent Crimes Dispatch Unit of the board, Fu’ad Dorayi, added that the truck driver and two other accomplices were nabbed.
Dorayi urged the people to always report vehicles conveying suspected products along specific routes, including Kano/Zaria Road, Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi Road, Kano-Katsina Road, Kano-Maiduguri Road, and Kano-Hadejia Road.
He, however, commended the prominent personalities who assisted Hisbah operatives in arresting the suspects.
