Man Lands In Court For Falsifying Details To Marry Second Wife

A middle aged man identified as Edmund Uzoma, has been brought before Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, by police for falsifying his details to enable him marry a second wife.
Uzoma was charged before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun on three counts bordering on bigamy, and falsification of information on a marriage certificate.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Idowu Osungbure, notified the court that the embattled Uzoma who was married contracted another wedding with one Sophia Yongxian, at a wedding registry.
Osungbure further told the Court that the defendant also made a false declaration that he was not married while already married.
According to Osungbure, Uzoma committed the crime in 2019, and offences were punishable under sections 411 and 115 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State and Section 370 of the Criminal Code Act Cap. C. 38 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
While the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, Magistrate Olatunbosun granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two responsible sureties in like sum, saying one of the sureties must have landed property in Lagos.
The matter was adjourned till March 15, 2023, for further hearing.
