Osun Police Attack Peaceful Protesters Mourning Technician Killed By Officers

Police Officers of Osun State Police Command have allegedly attacked peaceful protesters mourning a technician murdered by police officers in the state.

The police fired gunshots on peaceful protesters in Osogbo, the state capital, shooting the Nation Newspaper correspondent on his thigh.

Also hit by police bullet was a young girl suspected to be in her early twenties.

Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that the aggrieved police officers were firing gunshots and teargas to dislodge the mourners who gathered at Olaiya bridge.

It was further gathered that the deceased whose name was given as Abiola Afolabi, was shot by policemen at his friend’s house on April 04, 2022.

The officers who sent the young technician to early grave were said to have come from Housing Estate Police Station, Ring Road.

The remains of Afolabi was, however,  buried today May 31, 2022, and his friends held a rally to mourn him.

Effort to contact the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Adesokan Theophilus Adekola, for confirmation was not successful as phone call puts on him was not reachable.
