Afimag.com –

More than forty (40) persons observing morning prayers in the mosque have been kidnapped by bandits in Tsafe Community, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara state.

The victims were kidnapped on February 29, 2024, as bandits in their large numbers attacked the mosque when the worshippers were about to commence their morning prayer around 5am.

The bandits broke into the mosque and ordered all the worshippers who attended the morning prayer to follow them.

Upon their arrival, the bandits commanded that all the worshippers should not move an inch and directed that they should follow them into the bush.

One of the escapees who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said more than forty Muslim faithful were taken hostage by the bandits.

According to him, the kidnapped victims who scampered for safety were bitterly warned by the bandits with sophisticated weapons that anyone who attempts to run or escape will be killed.

It was gathered that the mosque was of full capacity when the hoodlums came in to execute their mission as only a few people escaped.

The attackers left their motorcycles far away from the mosque so that nobody would notice their movement before they came into the mosque.

At the time of filing this report, Zamfara State Police Command is yet to make official statement regarding the ugly trend.
