President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday depart Abuja for Europe to commence a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.
The President’s first destination will be London, United Kingdom, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Onanuga said the President’s trip would constitute a working vacation, during which he would take a break from his regular official engagements.
President Tinubu is expected to spend three weeks away from Nigeria before returning to the country to resume his official responsibilities.
The presidential aide did not disclose further details about the President’s itinerary or the specific European destinations he would visit after London.
The vacation comes as political activities are expected to intensify ahead of the January 2027 election. According to the statement, Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the working vacation and join the campaign activities leading up to the election.
The President’s absence from the country will therefore coincide with a period of heightened political mobilisation as political parties and their supporters prepare for the polls.
The statement, dated August 30, 2026, was signed by Onanuga in his capacity as Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Tinubu’s three-week leave is part of his annual vacation and comes amid the Federal Government’s ongoing activities and preparations for the coming electoral season.
