A prominent activist, Comrade Victor Ojei, has sounded the alarm over the escalating cases of kidnappings in Delta State, calling on the state government to take immediate action to restore security and confidence in the state.
In a statement forwarded to Africa Investigative Magazine, AFIMAG, Ojei, the leader of the Young Nigerian Rights Organization, expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity in the state, noting that kidnappings are not only real but also devastating which has resulted to loss of lives.
He emphasized that citizens and residents of Delta State have the right to know what’s happening in their communities and homes.
“The government has a constitutional responsibility to ensure the welfare and security of its citizens,” Ojei said. “It’s time for the government to take decisive action to address the rising insecurity in Delta State.”
Recall that Delta State Police Command, recently, rescued five kidnap victims in Ogwashi Uku, in Aniocha South local government area, and recovered about N1.3m ramson from the suspected kidnappers.
Reacting to the development, Ojei stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and citizens to combat the menace of kidnapping, admonishing residents to report any suspicious activities or incidents to the authorities.
According to him, sharing information can help prevent victimization and aid security agencies in tracking down perpetrators.
While calling on the government to take immediate action to restore security and confidence in the state, Ojei appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and work together to ensure their collective safety and well-being.
