A statement signed by Comrade Dele Fasan and Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire, Chairman and Secretary of the NUJ Warri 2025 Press Week Committee, respectively, said the commissioning ceremony will form a major highlight of the Chapel’s 2025 Press Week themed “Fight Against Oil Theft: The Impact of Private Security and the Role of the Media.”

The weeklong celebration begins on Thursday, June 26, 2025, with a public sensitization campaign themed “NUJ Says No to Crisis in Warri,” while members of the Chapel will take to the streets of Warri to engage with residents and promote peace in the oil-rich city.

On Friday, June 27, in addition to the official commissioning of the Press Centre, the day will feature a lecture and an awards ceremony honoring individuals and organizations who have supported the union and contributed meaningfully to journalism and community development.

The Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, however, expressed deep appreciation to the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo for his generous support in making the permanent secretariat a reality.
