2025 Ndokwa AGM: Igweokwu Rallies Support for NNU, Calls for Collective Progress

Odili Ogochukwu

Comrade Victor Igweokwu, Chairman of the Okpai Kingdom Community Development Committee (CDC) on Sterling Global Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO), in Ndokwa East LGA, Delta State, has called on Ndokwa stakeholders to rally behind the President General of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), Comrade (Chief) Amechi Asuguni, describing the current NNU leadership as purposeful and people-focused.

Igweokwu made the call while addressing newsmen after the 2025 Ndokwa Annual General Conference held in Ndokwa House, Kwale, in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State, on December 30, 2025.

He noted that the NNU has continued to represent the Ndokwa nation effectively and deserves the collective support of all stakeholders.

According to him, the greatest challenge confronting the Ndokwa nation is the persistent lack of unity, which he attributed to inadequate civic enlightenment, selfish interests and weak communal bonds.

“The Ndokwa people are happy today because the NNU is doing well and truly representing the Ndokwa nation. However, our major setback remains lack of unity, love and selflessness. Without unity, progress will remain difficult,” he said.

He observed that while some political leaders and stakeholders understand the need for collective development, personal interests often undermine efforts to build a strong and united Ndokwa nation.

Igweokwu explained that the NNU under Comrade Asuguni has intensified efforts to educate the people on responsible leadership and informed voting, stressing that elections should be based on competence, vision and the ability to attract development, rather than sectional or sentimental considerations.

“You don’t vote simply because someone is from your area. You vote because the person can truly represent the people and bring development,” he stated.

He further urged the NNU to strengthen engagement with Ndokwa political office holders, including those in the executive, legislative and representative arms of government, to promote accountability and ensure that projects meant for Ndokwa communities are delivered as intended.

“The reason we have our brothers and sisters in political offices is to attract development. Any project meant for Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West or Ukwuani must not be converted to personal use,” he cautioned.

Igweokwu said the broad support currently enjoyed by the NNU across the Ndokwa nation should serve as motivation for the union to continue holding leaders accountable in the interest of the people.

In his message to the people, he appealed for unity, mutual respect and constructive engagement with leaders, warning against insults and hostility.

“Insulting our leaders does not make us stronger. We should respect them, advise them appropriately and support them to do the right thing,” he said.

He called on traditional rulers, political leaders and youths to embrace unity and collective responsibility, expressing optimism that with sustained support for the NNU leadership, Ndokwa nation would witness renewed development and progress.

“Let us remain united, love one another and work together. Ndokwa will be great again,” he added.
